Fisher Price Kid Tough Portable DVD Player Review Model M8934

This is considered the daddy of the kids portable players. It was the first one released and you’re likely to have seen the Fisher-Price advert on TV. It was the first DVD player designed with kids in mind. It has a strong tough body and will survive drop after drop. The advert shows it falling down a flight of stairs. You can get it in Blue or Pink.

Customer Review on Amazon

My son of seven years old has special needs . He enjoys watching his favorite movies on DVD and love interacting with the buttons on the Player. I gave it to him before setting off on an eight hour tripI introduced this to him last week before making an 8 hour road trip for the holiday weekend. He loves it!  It is very easy to use and he had no trouble learning the functions of all the buttons. This thing has fallen out of his hands a few times now. Only once did the DVD come out of the DVD player after a particularly heavy fall . All other times it has held up very well. You can see now that it has been through a lot but it keeps playing the movies without a hitch. One thing that I’m not fond of is the DVD door. It is easy to open but that is the problem. It would be great if you could lock the DVD in place. I would recommend this to any parent to get for their child.

I bought this DVD player after trying many other inexpensive players. I returned all the previous models, but not this one. I needed one of these devices to keep my seven year old enterntained. I settled on this model because it is designed for kids and is reasonably priced. They have included everything you need down to the carry case. It has worked on all DVD’s, Music CD’s and Photo CD’s that I have tried. Cant complain too much. One little niggle is that you cant use the carry bag as a headrest holder for the player. All in all, a great product.

Kids DVD Players – Great for Roadtrips

We all love our kids but they can be very distracting on those long trips in the car. Kids get bored and frustrated pretty quickly. If you’re on the road for a few hours you need to give your kids something to do to keep you and your kids sane. One way to do that is to get your kids a portable DVD player and a few DVDs.

Now, as we all know, kids are pretty destructive. Broken Christmas presents on Boxing day are proof of this. So you need to get a tough Kids DVD player that has been designed with them in mind. You need a DVD player that is light, easy to handle and made of strong materials making them resistant to drops and bumps. They will normally be protected with rubber around the outside of the player.

You need a simple interface with just the basic buttons. Play, Pause and Stop. Kids aren’t bothered about color hues and aspect ratios. They just want to start watching their favorite cartoons. You want to look for other options like a headphone jack so that you can concentrate on the road and not the adventures of a lost fish! Another handy feature would be the ability to hook the player up to a TV so that your child can watch DVD’s on their own tv at home with friends. It teaches your kid to be independent.

Make sure you have spare batteries. These units typically work for a few hours so you will need spares. A charger in the car would be a good idea too.

Amazon have a host of portable DVD players for kids. Check out their great selection. There are a few that customer have not been thrilled about so check the reviews and choose one that is suitable for you and your children.

Fisher-Price have a great little player that comes in Blue and Pink. One happy customer wrote in her review that her 3 year old daughter loves it. She found it easy to use and carry around. The battery lasts about 2 hours which is enough for a standard kids movie. You can also get cases and travel kits designed for it. She was impressed by the picture and sound quality.

So have a look around at the products available and keep these points in mind. Hope this has helped you towards keeping your kids entertained and you focused on driving.

Below this post you will find a selection of Kids DVD Players that we have reviewed for you.
